Your beneficiary assignments must total up to 100%.
Regardless of how many primary or contingent beneficiaries you add to your coverage, you will not be able to complete enrolment or save changes to your account until you fill out the percentage coverage of each one accordingly.
Primary beneficiaries are typically a spouse, dependent or family member, who will receive the benefit to the percent total as designated. If and only if primary beneficiaries are paid their percentage as designated will contingent beneficiaries be included in payouts following a claim.
Contingent beneficiaries are designated as secondary beneficiaries who will receive the benefit of a claim if and only if the primary beneficiaries are incapable of receiving the full amount designated.
